The Student Conservation Association (SCA), a national force of conservation volunteers, has an exciting temporary part time position available in our Regional High School Program. We are seeking a youth program coordinator who is Responsible for developing a new part-time youth crew program that will engage six high school age girls in community outreach, media arts, and education work at Rosie the Riveter / WWII Home Front National Historic Park (NHP) in Richmond, CA.
The Coordinator will work closely with SCA and National Park Service staff, as well as with Red Oak Victory Ship volunteers, and with Richmond Youth Media. This person will also be responsible for helping identify future partner agencies and potential funders to keep the program going beyond its pilot year. This part-time position is from August 2008 through January 2009.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in youth program development /management, preferably in an urban setting
Experience in managing and/or establishing partnerships between schools, nonprofits, foundations, and/or governmental agencies
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
College or graduate degree preferred. Must be at least 21 years old
Basic computer skills – using Word, Excel, and the internet – required
Knowledge of the Richmond community, schools and funders preferred
Previous experience with videography or filmmaking preferred but not required
Valid driver’s license and MVR that meets SCA standards required, Ability and willingness to drive a 7- or 10-passenger van
Ability to meet SCA’s criminal background check standards
