Los Angeles area based pre-launch start-up that is building an innovative online video service for consumers. We are partnered with Applied Minds, Inc, a research and development company founded by technology luminaries and proven innovators Bran Ferren and Danny Hillis. We are ramping up quickly with a goal to launch the service publicly by the end of the year.

We are seeking unique individuals that are creative, comfortable working independently and motivated by a fast paced start-up environment with an emphasis on rapid iterative development and quick product release schedules.


Responsibilities:

Accept handoff from internal prototyping team to lead programming responsibilities

Lead responsibility for infrastructure design, development and implementation for scaleable web video application (Flash or Wowza)

Work closely with product definition and front-end development teams to execute iterative build plan

Drive improvements to site performance, interactivity and usability

Excellent communication and problem solving skills

Required Skills and Experience:

Prior experience developing truly scaleable web infrastructures with lead responsibility

Experience with massive data transfer and storage, scaleable databases, and in/out media streaming (Flash Media Server preferred)

Minimum 5 years software development experience with Java, C++, PHP or other scripting languages preferred

Strong database and table design/admin/optimization skills

Experience with cloud-based infrastructure delivery (EC2, S3, etc) and/or graph data structures a plus

Excellent documentation, communication, collaboration and problem solving skills

Self motivated and responsible
